Default Winning Combination

Finally I have the tools to do the work I like to do with my natural light portraits. Here is my new D300 with the Nikon 50mm f/1.4 lens. The settings are 50mm, f/1.4, ISO/ASA 1250:

Model Gale

I am really happy with this camera/lens combination!

Beautiful model. I like everything except she looks a little overexposed to me.

Not an expert.

I never dreamed I would ever be able to shoot in a hotel room with just the window and lights of the room. I am pleased with Nikon's work in the area of low light capture. Again, I had to go to ISO/ASA 1250, f/1.4 to hand hold this at 400th of sec. Also, this is only about 40% of the full image.

Nice shots. Although the purple fringes on the white dress / black belt combination are rather distracting to me. This somewhat improves, when stopping down the lens, which you wouldn't want to I suppose.

The pictures appear very soft. Is this due to your post processing? Again I suppose it is intended. It could however be, that the lens / camera missed the focus. The 1,4 50 Nikkor is capable of quite sharp pictures fully open.

Just my thought. Sean.
