Toneup is a great little application. But as of the last upgrade 'I've' dnloaded it still doesnt offer lots of control. It will allow triggering and intervelometer (time lapse) shooting but I have to do the settings on the camera.

But for 15 bucks I love it. And he's quick to answer inquiries too.

I wrote my own script to do tethered between my D40 and my Windows XP PC -- it also works with D300, D60 and probably with anything else like that. It just does the tethered capture part, nothing else, but if price is a concern it is hard to beat (free) ! You can get it from my blog.

Raymond,

Free is EXACTLY what I was hoping to pay, but when I click on your Blog link it says "RaymondL does not have a blog yet." Can you post or PM me your blog url?

thanks,
Deanna

p.s. How does your program work? Does it just monitor the folder on the camera and when it sees a new file pop it up in some type of viewer?

Your only choice is Nikon Camera Control Pro (now in version 2.0).
Aperture says it's compatible with current Nikon and Canon cameras. I've just purchased the full version and I'm going to try shooting tethered with it very soon. I think I've mentioned before that I'm just learning the ropes with Aperture but it seems very good.

It uses WIA to watch a PTP connected camera then downloads any new objects that get created as files and saves them on your C:. It is up to you to use your favourite viewer, though I did make a version that works particularly for me using Adobe Bridge.

I have lots of ideas of how to do this better but no time to code at the moment!

Hi Gene,

Just to let you know that I have a few new products - "Slave" and "Master"

Slave focuses on Tethered Studio Photography, and,

Master focuses on Remote Camera Control.

You can read more at OxfordEye Photography Solutions Software - offering Image Processing, Tethered Shooting, Remote Control and Time Lapse... Hope that helps

I finally found time to work on this again but it first I had to recode it into an HTA so I can have a proper GUI and installation set and things like a preview window of most recent downloaded image.

DIYPhotobits.com Camera Control 1.0 — DiyPhotoBits.com — A few bits and pieces about photography

It's still free, still Windows only, but starting to get a bit more interesting. I'm already working on the aperture and shutter control -- mostly so I can get that involved in time laps.

Hope this helps someone out -- it's really just a fun little script for hobby use though, should emphasize this isn't a "pro" anything.

Thanks.
R.
