thanks for the tip on the quick-extender-changer, that might give my 1.4xII a little more use
Mmm-hmm, no problem. ThinkTank makes a larger version for dropping in zoom lenses like the 14-24mm, 16/17-35mm, 24/28-70mm, and similar.

I really thought long and hard before spending the money to get my 70-200/2.8 VR. After using it only a couple of times I was in LOVE! Hands down, it is my favorite lens and I am fortunate to have some nice Nikkor glass. Merry Christmas, Bill P.

Wow, do I have a lot to learn. I got a Nikon D40x in a kit which included the 18-55mm, and the 70-300mm...To be honest, I know nothing about lenses, so when I read all these posts, a lot of it is confusing to me. But what I'm seeing is that the 70-200 is a must have for most photographers, am I right?

haha.. there will be no more thinking when the time comes for me to buy the lens. My only concern is that it's a G lens and won't work on my film camera (making me think I might have to keep my 80-200mm )

Just waiting for the right time to spend the money

It used to bother me that I couldn't use my 70-200mm and 300mm on my FM2 and F3 cameras, but I'm shooting less and less 35mm film....

That's what we're here for! =)

I'm sure everyone here will be glad to elaborate on what they said, and/or point you in the right direction towards understanding. Feel free to ask any questions about what you don't get.

Basically. It covers a very versatile range, both on APS-C digital (the size of all Nikon DSLR sensors except for the D3) and 24x36mm imaging media (35mm film, D3's "FX" sensor).

Hey, soon we'll have a generation that will be learning about 35mm film out of a textbook where it will read, "At one time, a very common format was..."

You know, like those emails that you get that talk about kids entering college today not knowing what a UHF knob on a television was or what it was like to have a television without a remote control at all or (gasp) before cable. They don't know what it was like before cordless telephones or before cellular telephones.

The 70-200 is an excellent lens. Not everyone needs this lens, though I'm positive just about every professional has one of these in their bag and probably a very high percentage of enthusiasts as well. It's one of the most useful ranges in the Nikon lens lineup.

Julio
