Default Teleconverters

I found a Tamron 1.4x teleconverter for Nikon for $49.90. I have a D50 and would be using it with a Nikkor 70- 210 f4 and a Nikkor 75-300 f4.5-5.6. Would that be a good one for me? Do they work with any Nikon AF lens? I've never used one before. Would appreciate any advice. Thanks

yes, it'll work with Nikon AF lenses presuming it's an AF TC. However, your lenses aren't exactly ideal candidates for a TC.

Your 70-210 will become an f/5.6 lens. That's certainly usable, but will push the limits of your camera's AF except in brighter light.

Your 75-300 will become something like an f/6.3 - f/8. AF likely won't work well at all except in the brightest of light.

Most people use TC's on f/2.8 and f/4 lenses.

Also, find out which Tamron teleconverter this is. If it's an MC-3 or MC-7 it's pretty cheap and the image quality won't be all that great. You'll want an SP AF Pro (or a Kenko Pro 300.. Kenko & Tamron AF teleconverters are the exact same) to get the best image quality. A lot of people use the cheaper ones and they work fine. It's kind like putting a Tiffen UV filter in front of your 70-200 2.8 though
