To throw in my 2 cents, I think the problem with Nikon, or one of them, anyway, is that they have just gotten too big customer service-wise. They are trying to be too many things to too many people. Which, I suppose, is unavoidable. I am a member of Nikon's NPS (Nikon Professional Service) which is helpful, but used to be a great deal better. They used to separate their professional service and support from the rest f the consumer stuff, but they no longer really have the staff to support that properly. I personally wouldn't use Nikon Capture except to be able to shot directly to my laptop (which I have not done yet). It looks like Adobe is taking over completely in the image handling market. Photoshop Elements is a great way to enter the Photoshop world without having to launch headfirst into CS2. CS2 is fast becoming the standard for professionals. The more capability something has, however, the more complicated it becomes.

Unfortunately, Nikon's customer service has gone down the tubes. I would love to switch to Canon, although their customer service is not much better I am told.

That's precisely what's turned me off about Nikon along with the fact that I like the images I see from digital Canons better than than digital Nikons. It used to be the lens and film that mattered the most... now it's the lens and the sensor... I think Canon must use better sensors. It's a huge disappointment to me, I've been a true believer in Nikon for a long time... I'd rather not have to change at this point.

...and about the sensor dust... I've heard that Oly has a system for keeping the sensor clean, that's pretty cool. Right now, I clean my sensors before every important shoot. It's a pain in the watusi... another thing I'd rather not do. I suppose it's the same with Canon.

I am also annoyed with Nikons high-and-mighty attitude , though recently I was directed to a Nikon site where you can download "Nikon View " for free and it now supports the D70 RAW.NEF format . You can open Raw images and edit them with the software .
