Dave,
I have also ordered the 24-70mm f/2.8G lens. I kind of hate doing this as I love my 17-55mm f/2.8, but I have to get some lens coverage in the 55mm to 70mm focal length with reasonable aperture. I have tried my wife's 18-135mm lens and the image quality is adequate, but the aperture is not. I too am excited and I am hoping to get mine as soon as these are out in the states as I ordered with my NPS Number to speed things up. I also believe it id way too early to take the D3 plunge for the big bucks. Tom |

Me, I've something else ordered, but darn it if the D3 is not, on paper at least, exactly what I'm really looking for.
I hope they've leant how to keep the rubber on, lack of attention to details all round has been the hallmark of the Nikon digital evolution, that and cheaply made products, which seemingly extended to the glue they used. That’s why I won’t cancel my other order, but it’s the closest Nikon has come in a bold and progressive move, untypical of them actually, very Canon like actually. That D300, hmmmmm, luscious |

Gbee,
Are you an NPS member? If not and you qualify join. I just had a lens repaired by Nikon at zero cost in three days and they paid the freight. If it takes a while, they will lend you the gear. I do not use this unless needed and I do not abuse the system. It is an excellent, professional program/ Tom |

I'm waffling between the D3 and D300.... while I'd love to have my 17-35mm back to it's intended view I don't exactly have $5000 to spend on a body right now. Selling my less-used stuff would get me to about $400-500. Maybe if I sold both my D2H and D2HS.... anyone interested in an ugly but filled with fresh components out of Nikon service D2H? It feels like a new camera, and has a brand new shutter and meter. Haven't used it since it came back right before I went on vacation...
.... I'll stop dreaming now, LOL. |

I have noticed that it is very common in USA to have to place an deposit when you preorder an camera, that is not the case is sweden ,at least not in the bigger shops.
IS there any reason for this? Even if you cancel your order, the next person in queue will get it, so it will alsways be sold. |
