.....and a bit of seriousness. This D300 is a very impressive camera body at a market-introduction price tag of $1800 or thereabout. That seems to me to be a lot of camera for the price. I hope this is as good as it sounds as I am presently in the line.

Here in sweden the pricetag seems to be approx. what the D200 had when it was announced, that is good.

The D300 is a great body, great features, and I strongly suspect great image quality. It is exciting to know about the D300, even for me, a Canon only shooter. I only hope Nikon continues to improve and hope they'll continue to give Canon a good bruising again and again in the future...Same for the D3...even more so for the D3....

I officially put my name on the waiting list at my local camera dealer.... Talked to the Nikon rep today and had a lot of good things to say about the d300. I can't wait for it, but it will be worth the wait.

Did you have good things to say about it, or the Nikon rep? If the Nikon rep, would expect him to bad mouth it?

I know the Nikon rep for the area as I used to work at a local camera store and have talked to him on many occasions. He would not bad mouth the products but he has always given me good equipment recommendations. I once bought something he did not recommend as much as another item and well, I regretted that decision. I later ended up buy the recommended product when my wallet allowed it.

Also, another interesting thing is that the D2Xs has been lowered in price drop due to the announcement of the D300. The D300 is giving the D2Xs a run for the money...

Both the D300 and the D3 are going to be outstanding cameras they just don't give me a good enough reason to upgrade yet.
