Default Fujifilm FinePix S5 Pro as a Second Camera

I'm intrigued by the reviews of the Fulifilm FinePix S5 Pro and, since I already have a Nikon D200 and assorted lenses, wondered if anyone has considered the FinePix as a second camera body.

I had been considering a D80, so I could keep two lenses at the ready, but the FinePix seems to be a much more interesting alternative.

Thoughts?

Depends on your needs. The Fuji seems to be a really nice offering and there are pro's and con's on both sides of the fence if debating between these three bodies. (If you're considering a Fuji, I'd bet another D200 is in the thought process as well).

I tried going the route of the D80 as a second body but opted to return it in favor of getting another D200 because I don't want to have to think about different controls between bodies in the middle of an event. I wanted both cameras to be identical.

I think you'd just need to weigh out the pros and cons of each body and make a call based on what you jot down on paper. Sometimes that really helps.

Good luck.

a lot of Nikon users use a Fuji as a second camera. you give up speed and resolution for straight out of the camera jpegs, built in Fuji color, and dynamic range.

some folks believe that the jpegs come close to some older dslr raw files. while this is just opinion, i do know my S3 jpegs have a lot of flexibility for PP. It is my belief that the Fuji complements the Nikon very well.
