Default My new Nikon SLR

Well this is a blast from the past I got a mint FE2 yesterday and I plan on using some Kodachrome 25 this weekend if the weather holds out. I also got a mint Nikkor 50 f2 AI with a like new lens hood as seen.

I know not digital but I still love to slow down and shoot slide film. I also have a EM and FM3a so I love MF nikons. My daughter has my FM2n she will need it in college next year.

Jim

Oh man, that's a beauty. I have a FM2N and junked-but-was-really-cheap F3T as my film kit. We shoot C-41 process color though....

There is nothing like Kodachrome, especially, Kodachrome 25, but where do you get it since it has been discontinued? It was my film of choice for 20 years.

Good grief. How cool is that!!!

Nice... mucho nice... If I found one like that I'd put it under glass and wouldn't touch it. Though, of course, I'd be very tempted to.

Nice acquisition James. A bit of film, a bit of nostalgia a bit of knowledge and a bit of creativity. A nice day had by all I would say. Post a couple. The wait is more than worth it. Crotographer

Thanks all I really enjoy MF nikons and not to start a war but to me none of the digital cameras today feel the same I love my D80 but there is something about these MF Nikon's when you change something there is a reassuring click and a feel of finely machined metal parts just working in perfect Harmony. The 50 f2 is like butter it is so smooth and sharp oh man is it sharp.

Heres a pic of the rest of my MF family. Now all I need is a FG, FG20, FE, FM then I'd have the whole set(I could also get a FE10 and FM10 but they are cosina made so maybe I can leave them out for now).

James,

Not sure if you're interested, but I have a MF Nikon Series E 135mm 2.8 sitting in my cabinet that barely gets used. I got as part of a kit when I bought my f90X. Fantastic lens, extremely sharp and has the HN-2 hood.

PM me if it's something you need. Price isn't a huge issue to me as it's not being used and I would rather somebody who could use it have it.

The greatest camera I ever owned was my Nikon FE. I actually had two bodies and one of them is still in working condition. Beats the N6006 I had, the N70 I have, and the D70s I have because it has mirror lock up, depth of field preview, cable release socket, multiple exposure capability, a setting to release the shutter at 1/90 if the battery is dead, PC socket, etc.

Good luck getting that K25 developed. I think there may only be one lab in the world doing it now.

I assume you mean the FG20...? The smaller update to the FG was the FG20.

Someone abandoned an original FE my senior year of high school, leaving it in the journalism classroom. I don't know if anyone ever figured out who it belonged to... black one in great shape with only a touch of brassing in one corner. The rubber on the eyepiece was worn too, but man, we wanted to snatch that one so bad. Not sure what I would have done with it though, as I already have a FM2N and F3T, along with access to a FG and EM.

I use my uncle's Nikkormat FTN, I love that camera!!!!! He was a photography teacher and a janitor gave it to him!! I came with a Metz flash bracket and a vivitar flash on it and a 50 f2 non AI, because those fossils don't have a hotshoe, only a sych cord hookup. I think it's mine soon enough, I am always using it lol.

Well, I've still got: An F an F2 (both of these with plain prism finders), 2 black FMs, a black FG, an EM, and a pair of motorized F3s, one with an HP finder, and one with a sports/action finder. If anyone wants a cheap manual film camera, I'd be willing to part with the FMs for very reasonable (i.e. well under $100) prices. Got lots of lenses too.
