Default need help re: wein safe adapter, do I need one?

I just ordered a photogenic 650ws light kit. Do I need a Wein Safe adapter, or will the AS-15 be ok? I shoot with a D70, and this is new to me. IS this a case of I should have it, or do I really need it? Thanks so much in advance, I may need to change my order dep. on the answer.

I would go ahead and call Adorama or wherever you ordered the lights from and ask the question, just to be sure.

I think you will be fine with the AS-15. Especially you are ordering a new photogenic.
When I was working on photo retail, we had a high rate of returns on the wein safe adapters. IMO not worth the price they were asking for the item.

I agree with the AS-15.* Some time back I asked a fellow shooter that did repairs for Nikon about this issue.* He told me they almost never had problems with cameras being blown out with the AS-15.* I have also observed many Canon studio shooter with the AS-15 as it seems to work better than the Canon version. -Jim

I ended up sticking with just the AS-15, and not the Wein Safe. Thanks for the input.
