Default Nikon 18-300 VR vs Nikon 18-200 & 70-300

I currently own both the Nikon 18-200 VR and 70-300 VR.
Even with the overlapping, I'm happy with these lenses.
But Nikon is about to release the new 18-300 VR.
If you were in my shoes, would you consider selling the two for the one?
I'd have to sell 'em both plus toss in $200.00 to make the move.
Or would that be dumb if I already own the 18-200 & 70-300?

Depends on what you shoot. Super zooms are always a bit softer, but for most people they work wonders. If you want a big expensive 12x P&S, go for it. Little better images due to the sensor, but thats essentially what you have. A large camera that is great for day trips and vacations, because it covers every range normally wanted.

I personally carry a small P&S camera if I want that much range, but again, its all in what you are shooting and why.

So what is "your" gain in this? I have the same lenses you have and would never consider it unless the new lens is better in image quality, which I highly doubt given the IQ I get from the 70-300VR.

I hear what you're saying, but trust me... a D90 with the 18-200 VR blows away point and shoots... big time!!! True it's not as sharp as a F2.8 zoom, but with the naked eye, you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference...

Good question... one lens vs two, I guess...
So you're going to stay put?

I took these images with my 18-200 VR from a small plane. Had the lens sticking out of the camera portal in the window during flight. VR on (active mode)!!!

I would consider selling the two for the one only after I had read enough reviews and received enough user feedback to make an intelligent decision.

I should of clarified. But I just meant you are carrying around 6-7 or more pounds of equipment. What are doing? Are you shooting sports or walking around Disney (for example). An all in 1 makes a great tourist lens, but would you like to carry that around your neck all day, is what I am getting at. But it all is determined by what you shoot.

And I am finding some fairly sharp shots in P&S, if you get the right type and know their limitations. They wont supplant a DSLR for most things, but there are times I carry them over my big one.
