Default California Dreamin with 70-200 VR
As some may know, I got to spend the weekend in California last weekend and had a ball.

I decided to go out to Oceanside and shoot some sunsets.* Here are some results with the wonderful 70-200 VR.

Manual Mode
D200
Nikon 70-200 VR
1/125 @ f/11
Cokin 2 stop grad ND filter.

And another at f/8

The flare I'm not too certain about but it does give a dreamy feel to the shot.* Should have stopped down to f/11, but I was shooting something else and didn't think about re-setting aperature given the scene unfolding in front of me.

Love to hear your thoughts on whether the flare breaks the shot for you guys or whether you like the way it looks.

Glad to hear you had fun. I like the first and third best. Not so sure about the second one; I think you're right about the flare affecting it a tad.

Ya, I'm not sure if I love the shot or hate it myself. I'm kicking myself for not having gone back to f/11 but hindsight is 20/20.

Sorry we didn't get to hook up on this round out there Michael. I'll be out there again soon though. Maybe next time. It'd be fun to get out and shoot with you one of these trips.

Next time I'm sure I'll be headed up to the LA area.
