Default D300 64 Gb Cards

Peoples,

64 GB cards are out there but a Nikon setting on the D300 means they want work. Nikon has upgraded firmware for the D300s to take these cards but not the D300.

I asked Nikon when they would upgrade the Firmware for the D300. The responce was that they would only do it if enough people asked.

So please log into Nikon site and ask them fir the firmware update to 64GB cards.

Thanks All

Done as you have requested. It doesn't hurt to ask.

Dont think I would ever use 64gb unless I were to get a camera with huge sized files (like video). Imagine a full day of shooting on 1 card, pop it in the card reader and 'cannot display image' or some other phrase that was a dagger to the heart comes up. Ill stick with 4gb or 8gb as I can get about 400 raw+lg/fine jpgs on it. But thats just me

rather 10x 8 gb cards than one 64 gb card.. like to keep the risk of loosing a picture as low as possible

Costco several weeks ago had the Sandisk Extreme (30/ second) 8gb CF cards for $28 (rounded off by a few pennies). AND hidden inside each package was a coupon for 100 free prints. I eventually bought 3 of them.

Me I like using 4gb as those will fit directly to DVD which is where they go after the shoot for backup. I do also copy to USB hard drive for archive.

I have 1-2gb and 1-8gb Sandisk and the rest are 4gb Transcend (266x and 300x)

I second the fact that it is better to swap out several cards to reduce the risk of having all your photos in one larger card. The 8gb card I will always use last.

Each set during a studio photoshoot goes onto its own CF and gets removed and stored and/or copied to computer for extra backup.

I also shoot RAW+JPEG to increase safety this way I have 2 of each image just in case 1 has a read error at least I will have the other in most cases.
