Amazing place. The first doen't quite work for me - I think it's the glare on the water on the right hand side. The heron's pose in the fourth is not the best. I like the 2nd - kind of surreal seeing regimented rows of trees growing out of the water. I like the 3rd too with the heron's pose a little more active.

liked the first, but felt it could be improved.

First, changed JPG to TIF. Captured the birds with the Magic Wand in PS.
Then did a right click slecting inverse to exclude them and work with the rest.
(Probably could have played with Image, adjustment, levels to bring out more detail in the birds.)

Clicked on Image, Adjustments, Selective Color. In the menu at the top, clicked the triangle and chose whites. Clicked on absolute. Then added add if I remember correctly 5 black and 10 cyan. This adds color to the sky and some to the water and makes the birds stand out more. (You could play with these to do what you want with it.)

Then went back to Image, adjustments, levels moved center indicator to the right to about 70. This added a bit to the midtones and made the birds stand out more...

Then saved it as a JPG.

Here is the result.
