Caught years ago at the Exotic Feline Breeding Compound, in Rosamond CA. Taken through a chain link fence, then retouched out the wire in the image in Photoshop.

We have been Members of the EFBC or "Exotic Feline Breeding Compound," for a lot of years. It began with one man who liked big cats. He had one living in his house and decided to buy this land to give it more room. Then someone gave him another, and another. Soon he had so many cats, he was living on Peanut Butter sandwiches sometimes for a week, so he could feed the cats chicken. He turned it into a private preserve, and did not charge admission.
It kept growing, until he could not handle all the work himself, so people began volunteering. Finally the state got involved, forcing him to build sturdier and more expensive places for them. But, they now like the facility enough, that when they get injured cats or impound them from those keeping them illegally, they bring there there. They Began accepting donations, selling yearly memberships and sending out a newsletter and have a great gift show with all kinds of things available. Betty White and some of her friends got involved and it just kept on growing. Now anyone can go to Rosamond CA to see all the rare and endangered cats they have. The San Diego Wild animal park sends animals there who wont breed in their zoo for breeding. He has Vets cooperating that volunteer their time to do invetero fertilization, surgery when necessary, etc. We live in AZ now, but still go there a few times a year. My wife has donated many of her paintings of Tigers that have lived there, to sell in the auction they have once a year to raise money for support. Only members are allowed to take pictures in the compound. There are LOTS of links in Google if you want to learn more about it, its also known as "The Cat House." Just search for EFBC Rosamond CA |
