OK, last try to get some feedback on this, then I promise I'll stop.
Here's the story: A pair of cliff swallows have built a nest under the eves of my house. A few days ago I found egg shells below the nest, revealing that the babies have hatched. Since there is no angle from which I can shoot the "little family" I just took this shot of one of the shells. I thought the contrast was interesting between the shell and the bark mulch. Apparently not interesting enough? |

I think it is a cool shot.... I hate it when I post and no one comments. Maybe a tighter crop would be a bit more interesting...make it more focused on the egg shell. Still and all a cool shot!

The broken egg, makes me feel sad, not happy. Show the life cycle and that will cheer me up.

Lori, thanks. I'd rather have a picture trashed than get no comment at all. I should have done a closer crop in camera, but I see what you mean about cropping in more.
Kosherpaparazzi, thanks. Gary, I'm sorry you can't see it as a hatched egg (which is what it is) rather than a broken one. I'd rather show the baby birds too, but they're out of view in their little mud nest. Thanks for taking the time to look and comment. |

actually, i like this photo as it is. i felt sad at first seeing it was a shot of a cracked egg, but then i saw the there wasn't anyhting inside the egg. then i felt happy. a very deceptive pic that forced me to look at it twice.
i like it. |

Loeee, this is a nice shot; i LOVE the smiling rock/bark. Amazing that something so small and fragile could support life. I see that this is a happy shot; as it is the baby birds first cycle in life that it has made on its own. And I agree with Joshman. It makes you look twice. |
