A handsome beast n nice shot.
I just caught the end of a report on the news about a new forest being found with dozens of new species . A place thats so remote none of the animals have any fear of man. unfortunately your 600mm won't be needed as you can get up close to everything but it will make for easy walking . I find amazing this could exist in 2006 without being discovered . keep the batteries charged Rob ,that has to be a wildlife photogs dream |

but its very possible if we scratch the Alaska trip. I am a Mason contractor so the nice weather is my busy season, so its hard to do 2 big trips a year due to time and money ( if I could only get the wife to work overtime ) |

Beautiful. I like the almost monochromatic feel to it and the look on his face.
I can't wait, my parents just got a beach house and there is an empty lot right next to it that the elk migrate through every year. The deer are actually almost tame too, didn't even flinch when we drove out of the driveway only about 6 feet from them and completely ignored the construction going on behind them. As soon as there is a place to sleep in the house I'm heading there with my camera and I'm hoping to get some deer pictures! ![]() Sara |

He's a bit bigger than the Roosevelt Elk we have around here. There is a valley about 50 miles west of where I live where about 150 Roosevelt Elk live. It's a wildlife perserve so as long as they stay in the valley they are fairly safe. I don't have the lens you have and they stay away from the road when people are there and it near sundown with the sun coming from the right, but here's one I got with my 100-400 lens:
There were a number much bigger than the big one here, but I don't think as massive as the one you have above. Nice shot. Mike |

Thanks very one for the comments, they are fun to shoot. This guy was very active protecting his helm. Mike I am so jealous, only 50 miles and you can see elk. I have to go many more mile then that, thus the longer lens
