Depends on the veiwer goofup .
I see why you like it not very often you can get them in a pose thats so symertical.
Its a tad blurred but exceptable its next to impossible to shoot thru glass and the terrium lighting generaly sucks.

I've been at this for a while snakes were a hobby of mine.
The best results without a tripod is to use a flash on a angle to the window,and play with shutter speeds to get before or after the flash bounces on the glass.
Heres an example from two weeks ago the terrium was dark and the glass filthy .

LOL! I don't really mind being followed and certainly could use some critique as I'm still learning. Alas, the problem with your advice is that they don't allow using flash in terrariums and aquariums at my local zoo. Next time I'm there I'll at least make sure to have my tripod with me, promise!

Yours is of course exellent shot though, if you ask me, it could use a tad more DOF to see more of the snake's body. Also, if you're into digital manipulation, I'd erase that little piece of branch at the top.

Well thanks for your critique Its just an example its in the scrap folder.
Hmm no flash thats a problem you may want to buy a monopod with the mini tripod legs at the bottom as space can be harsh in a zoo.
Thats if you do it a lot.

Too bad it's a scrap folder photo - I like it a lot.

And space is not the problem, the lack of light and no flash are. I'll try a few tricks the next time I'm there. Mostly I'm into macro but I'm sort of... between lenses. Should be able to afford something in a few months but so far I'm only playing with the kit lense and learning as much as I can in the process.

Still, I'm planning another trip to the zoo some time in the spring and another one to the botanical garden. Right now the weather is... ughh...

I'm not sure but don't think so. Where was the photo taken? Wild? My Rough Green Snakes are very slender, lack the yellow underside and have no black line in the eye. Perhaps the image has excessive saturation? Of course there are always local color variations. The red in the eye is not always seen. These are in Virginia:

Shots were from Toronto Zoo Doug The display said Rough green tree snakes.
Where they are from who knows probably wild caughts from somewhere they get all the good stuff being a zoo and and As for variences heck I had 5 diffrent morph Ball pythons all natural and 6 hybred morph Corns so yeah who knows.

Really nice picture I like the composition.
A tad more lightning could have reduced your shutterspeed cause the image is not quite sharp.
Maybe a flash with the ev dialed down a bit lets say -0.7 would have produced a better shot without knowing that the flash fired. <-- I'm totally new to flash I'm just trying to apply what I learned from a textbook.
