This Rockchuck took up residence behind my house this spring.
He or she was very calm as I got a couple of closeups.

Thanks everyone! They are very large, not quite as large as a beaver but close.
They call them whistle pigs here also. That comes from thier alarm whistle when they sense danger. This one will whistle when my dog or cat comes out, but it never made a sound with me.
