Default First shots with my new lens!

Never used anything beyond 210mm before, so go easy on me . These were taken at my local park using my shiny new 50-200mm (100-400mm in 35mm terms) Zuiko lens. Both shot handheld.

I've saved them with Exif details intact, so if you have that nifty extension in Firefox called Fxif then it's a simple matter of right-clicking on the image and choosing 'Properties' to view the Exif data .

I find that a side shot helps with the focus with a long lens .....

Indeed. I have a few like that,

but I preferred the expression of the top one, and the extreme DOF adds some interest to it.

That second one has an almost 3D feel to it. Very interesting.

Yes, I have to resist the urge to reach out and press his nose (no doubt, it would make a honking sound ).

ROTFL, very funny...though if you've ever been bitten by a bird that large, you pressing his nose might end up with YOU making noise right along with him.

Second shot, i would have loved to see his eyes covered in the DOF.

Otherwise really great and sharp shots.
Keep up the good work.
