I hope you had a real long lens! I can handle black bears at closer distances but I do my best to avoid grizzlies.

Thanks all. This was at 400mm on a 7D with me sitting in my truck. She was actually being very calm, just digging up roots and such for breakfast, ignoring me for the most part except for an occasional glance, a real sweetie. It was a great encounter in that I had her all to myself for the better part of a half hour.
Here is another shot that puts it in the context of the surroundings. Even the bison wasn't too concerned. 17mm, 30D.
