Carol,
There is also a pro version of the plugin. With the pro version the selection part is decoupled from the output part. That means you can select the ranges just as with the photocamel version, but you have more control on the output:

This version is on test and not public available.

This will probably sound dumb, but being a brand new user to Photoshop ( I have CS2) I'm having probs downloading the Plugin by Rense. I got as far as saving the download to my desktop. But don't understand the following from the instructions. (1) "Copy file minmaster to the plugins directory of my editing progrsm" How do I find the plugins directory? ( I use Windows XP )
(2) "Go to the plugins menu and you'll find a submenu called photocamel" How do I find the Plugins Menu in order to do this?
Maybe someone could translate the above directions into non-techie language )

I can help here.

First, the download is zipped. So you have to unzip it with an unzipping program like Winzip. Once unzipped, you'll see a file called minmaxer.8bf in the folder in which the plug-in was unzipped.

Copy that minmaxer.8bf file to your CS2 plugins folder. That's usually at this location:

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS2\Plug-Ins

Then restart PhotoShop.

Once restarted, you'll find the plugin under Photoshop's Filter menu, toward the bottom, listed under Photocamel.

You'll have to have an image loaded in photoshop in order for the filter to become active.

This saves me a ton of grief when converting / retouching from old black&white photos that were processed in sepia or other tints. Attached are examples of an original scan, the 'straight' PS conversion and PhotoCamel's MinMaxer.

Note: I didn't touch anything in MinMaxer yet it was a vast improvement over the straight conversion.

Thank you Rense. May the Plug-ins god keep smiling on you.

Exclamation Re: Free PhotoShop plugin for PhotoCamel members

Please Note!

I have the plugin working in PhotoShop CS2, PhotoShop CS3 Beta and... PhotoShop Elements 5.0 (all Windows applications), so it's not only for the 'Big Gun' CS users, elementary Elements users can use this great tool too

...FWIW... *my* €0.02...

...and Rense, once again, thanks for sharing!
