I personally shoot Commercial at work ie. Clothing, bedding, sports equipment and other such apparel so LF is suits our needs quite well by providing the proper resolution -- though mobility is certainly an issue.

The Sigma SD10 DSLR can produce prints over A0, and its a lot easier to handle and use than a LF film camera. Regards Alf Beharie |

We use Sinar P3's http://www.sinarbron.com/sinar/digital/p3p1.php with sinar 54m backs http://www.sinarbron.com/sb54sam_new/sb54main.php Comparing the Sigma SD10 to LF is absurd. All perspective/focal control aside, the Sigma you speak of has total effective pixel count of 2268 x 1512 -- That's roughly 10MP. The Sinar is 22... |

Comparing those two cameras is absurd. If I told ANY of my clients I was shooting thier clothing/hardgoods with a DSLR .. there would be many left.
I'm sorry, but there isn't a DSLR on that market that 'rivals' the quality of Digital LF... and I'm an advocate for using our Canon 1ds Mark ll MORE often. As far as LF advantages, Multi shots. How do you control perspective with a DSLR? |

From your statements it is quite apparent that you've never used digital LF.
BTW, I'm quite aware of Tilt shift lenses... as I own one. But of course your know -- there is a difference between tilt-shift DSLR lenses and SWINGS and tilts...right? Also, couple things about the Sigma that wouldn't fly for OUR DSLR applications. Flash sync is the typically 1/180 Buffer only 6 shots at 1.9 FPS. This is about as good as a $169 Canon A60, except the A60 clears its buffer faster... Just one AF sensor! High noise levels at higher ISO's And yes, I've seen the Sigma you speak off. A fellow colleague of mine uses one to shoot weddings. We have a epson 9600, with a max print width of 44in and as long as your computers ram will let you go We've printed images from dozens of cameras including your sigma. At smaller dimensions, it looks fine (though your claim of matching that of LF is ludicrous, as the Canon 1DS Mark II can barley hang) but when printed larger the image falls apart. |

At A0, prints made from Sigma shots do not "fall apart" and at twice that size (2A) they do not "fall apart" either, so how big are we talking about? Regards Alf |

That print he is holding says it's printed on a Vutek. That model can make an amazing print from files with a rez as low as 60dpi at that size and larger.
