Default Daybreak, Crater Lake

Dawn at Crater Lake National Park, in the Oregon Cascades mountains.

There were many forest fires burning in Oregon during this time, and each afternoon during our stay the wind would change direction and bring smoke into the park. By late afternoon you couldn't see the water at all from the rim. This photo is softened by lingering smoke over the water from the previous afternoon.

Camera: Calumet 540
Lens: Caltar II-N 150mm f/5.6
Film: Velvia RVP50

Stunning image of a beautiful place! I love Crater Lake.

The colors in this shot are great (again, it's an AdobeRGB embedded file so most people will have issues with color saturation when viewed on browsers other than Safari or Firefox 3.0 beta). But 2 thumbs up for this shot!

Where in Oregon are you?

You caught some wonderful early morning light. I think Crater Lake has the bluest water I have ever seen.
