Default does anyone know about pearl river TLR cameras?

Recently saw one of Pearl river TLR in pawn shop. It costs about 20 bucks, should I try it? I never used MF cameras before.

It was made in China, I believe, from 2-3 decades ago, and positioned itself to give the more popular Yashicamat 124 some competition as an entry level medium format camera. It certainly is a few steps above a Holga. And for the right price, you can't go wrong.

It looks like a knock-off of a Seagull TLR, also made in China. Like Michael said, for $20, you can't really go wrong. That said, make sure the shutter is working by cocking the shutter and giving it a few test fires. And make sure the viewing lens is clean and the focusing works.

Be prepared for a reversed world with a TLR. The image in the viewfinder will be a mirror image.

A much better choice. I think you will be very pleased with the 124.

remember I asked about pearl river camera? I bought it too, and it is absolutely wonderful, sharp as a rasor and gives great colors. I asked a friend of mine to scan some pics and he promised to do this soon. I`ll post some then

If you like the TLR thing...and don't mind some weight...you might also check out the Mamiya C330.....more lenses available...and it's very well made.....but heavy! lol

I used to shoot weddings for a guy who would send me out with 2 hassies (both of which would inevitably jam) and the Mamiya.....I shot almost everything with the TLR.
