Default Butterfly safari to KwaDweshula forest

Hi All

Last weekend we used Google Earth to find a rare patch of undisturbed semi-lowland forest near Port Shepstone, about 150km S-W of Durban. We're not too sure exactly what it's called but there's a hamlet nearby called KwaDweshula. The pix of the forest are on the Landscape forum here:

And here is the Lepsoc post, with more shots: http://www.lepsoc.org.za/component/o...nc,post/id,68/

We found lots of butterflies and moths here. Some really spectacular Emperor Swallowtails - but they wouldn't pose for pix! We found lots of Bush Beauties Paralethe dendrophilus albina:

One rarity that did allow itself to be photographed was this Albatros White Appias sabina phoebe male. These are deep forest specialists and it was great to find a new locality for them.

And also there was a lot of Crotolaria around - foodplant of the Beautiful Tiger Amphicallia bellatrix. Normally we find larvae but not adults, as these day-flying moths are canopy dwellers. But this time we were fortunate to find a freshly emerged female who posed prettily before winging off into the treetops!

Thanks for looking!

Cheers

Steve

For me the second one is the best-superb light, clarity, excelent sharpness(of the whole body) and lovely colors.I really like it but all three are very good.
Be well,
Remy
