Is the Tamron a Macro Lens or just a regular 90mm?

Nice, next time try diffusing the flash a bit, I own the 550ex, if you used one how do you like the 580 flash vs the 550

The first pic has great lighting, the 2nd I find a little hot on the back end

The Tamron lens he is talking about must be the 90mm Macro. Supposedly a very good Macro, and it looks good in these pics. Here is Tamrons page on it (with links to reviews)

Don't be affraid of the price there. B&H has it for $450 after their rebate

Wow, great shots. I looked at the shots and then the photographer's name. I knew it couldn't be from an amateur.

Thanks so much Alice.
I still see myself as an amateur to be honest :-*

I will try to drag my softbox outside next time, for this shots I used the 580EX with a omnibounce and a off camera cable.

If you can live with manual focus (and I guess macro users will) then you can pick up the older Tamron SP 90MM f/2.5 for relatively small change these days. I know this as I grabbed one yesterday on *bay complete with the OM Adaptall mount. It's a nice third-party cult classic http://medfmt.8k.com/third/cult.html#tamron. I'm on a mission to have them all one day
