Default Macro Challenge #25 - COLOR
I am still without internet, but don't want you to miss another challenge. So I'm putting this up with my blackberry. Please forgive the lack of links.

The theme for our twenty fifth Macro Challenge is COLOR.

Dazzle us with your creative use of color this month.

This challenge will run throughout the month of October 2009.

You may submit your own original work shot during or before the challenge. I encourage everyone to get out and make some NEW photos for this challenge.

Please post your images in this thread along with any technical information you would like to share such as camera, lens, shutter speed, aperture, iso, lighting conditions, post processing, location, subject details, etc.

At the end of the month, we'll all award karma for outstanding work.

Kiras,

Your number 3 and 4 are utterly spectacular, IMO. I don't get how 2 is a macro though. In fact, I don't understand the term at all.

Can someone please define what a macro is for the purposes of this challenge? I'm including a shot I took by accident whilst leaning over. My camera started to swing on its neck strap, I grabbed at it to prevent it from hitting a rock. My grab snapped the shutter which resulted in this shot. I'm not sure it's a macro:

Well these were my first attempts at macro with the new 5dMarkII a few weeks back. Macro is tougher than I thought it would be. Just using extension tubes. Not the sharpest for sure but they are colorful. Now that fall colors are here I will be out trying again.

The definition of macro varies. I like to keep it simple. Macro begins when the optical image which strikes the camera sensor is the same size as the actual image. 1:1 ratio. Whereas a close-up has an optical image less then the object. 1:2 means the optical image is 1/2 the size of the object. So close-up can have a wide range of ratios . A photo of an entire flower is a close-up. A photo of a wedding bouquet enters the undefinable gray area. This photo challenge has a large gray area definition for close-up. Your leaves easily fall within the close-up category. This challenge permits macros and close-ups
