Here's one I did yesterday. Our neighbor has some trees that are turning color. I found some leaves on the ground under their tree and brought them home and set them on this white board stuff I have. It is corrugated inside. I set it on a lamp so the light shines through the board and placed the leaves on the board. I have a couple questions, so answer away please.
Do the lines shining through the board detract from the image? Also, I'm not big on black and white for black and white's sake, but I sort of like it with this picture so I'm posting the color image and the b&w image. Which do you all prefer? Thanks for any answers and c&c. PS: I know the b&w one doesn't match the color theme (well, maybe it does. lack of color?), but I didn't want to start a new thread. ![]() |

Yeah, I commented on the b&w not meeting the theme. I was more wondering if the lines showing through the image are distracting. Also, just in general if the b&w works for the image, not for the theme. (I didn't want to start a new thread, maybe I should have.)

I asked and learned that macro means 1:1 in physical size on sensor, but I see submissions have been other than 1:1 so I am thinking that for this challenge, the rules are a bit slack. I figure we are dealing with colorful close up pictures. So I enter this one. I was looking out the window & saw that our cosmo flowers had interesting stems. I made a pic of the stems but included the flower also because I thought it'd be bad taste to clip them off. I made the background dark.

I have some of the same paper and use it for much the same thing. First, i really like the color one. The transparency of the leaves through the other leaves is nice, gives a depth and feeling to the work. I might have toned down the light a little, it could be softer, but it is not distracting to me, necessarily. I like B&W a lot, so Ilike the one here. |

Oil Drop taken today with Sigma 105mm. Lighting was a combination of natural window light supplemented with 2 Ikea reading lights.

Bob, your broken glass is absolutely goregous. I love the color and the design. I have a Rebel XT but have never done anything like this. do you have a macro lens? I do not. I really would love to be able to do this.

Madsnapper, see the "MP-E65" in Bob's signature line? That's probably the best (and from what I've heard, hardest to master) macro lens available.
Bob, do you have your broken glass series up in one place anywhere? |
