Default Macro Challenge #21 - rope, thread, string - KARMA TIME
The theme for our twenty first Macro Challenge is rope, thread, string.

Ok, I know at first this does not sound especially interesting, but I think if you give it some thought, and put on your creative photo caps you'll see that there are really quite a few opportunities here. So go out and find some interesting strings and if you are feeling really up to it, make some creative arrangements with clever composition and lighting too. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

* make sure that rope, thread, and/or string are not merely in the frame, but the subject of your photos *

This challenge will run throughout the month of May 2009.

You may submit your own original work shot during or before the challenge. I encourage everyone to get out and make some NEW photos for this challenge.

Please post your images in this thread along with any technical information you would like to share such as camera, lens, shutter speed, aperture, iso, lighting conditions, post processing, location, subject details, etc.

At the end of the month, we'll all award karma for outstanding work.

** A gentle reminder that this contest is intended for macro and close up images only. **

A little something from the other end of the industrial spectrum...primitive technology. I did this while walking the dogs this morning:

The bottom one (about 1/4" diameter) can easily hold 200 pounds tension but will not wear as well as modern synthetics

Thanks! yes, I wouldn't post anything I didn't shoot. I collected the yucca strands and twisted the cordage while walking my dogs this morning. It kind of looks braided in the photos but is really just twisted.

O/T Here is another "publication" I have done, this is in the Verde Search and Rescue Standard Operating Proceedure manual for patient packaging in a Stokes Strecher:
