This was one of my first macro/close up shots shortly after I got my first digital camera early this year. I have continued to like this one.....It is Phalaenopsis amabilis, sometimes called Moon Orchid or Moth Orchid.

I am not sure I can say this is my favorite. For one thing, I am not sure I can trust my own judgment. I know work doesn't compare with the work that I see here but this picture has generated the largest amount of positive comment of anything else I have taken this year so I decided to include it.

Thanks Glendower, these were shot with a Canon 40D and a Sigma 105mm macro lens, for flash I used a Canon 430ex off camera mounted on a Novoflex flash bracket then diffused with a Lumiquest softbox, thanks again for commenting
