Shots of what turned out to be a female on a glass slide. Great fun trying to herd one of these onto the slide (not!).

Great series. In #1 I assume the bug was standing on a clear glass slide and you photographed from underneath. In #2 the bug is crawling along the edge of a clear glass slide. However in #3 there is no faint double reflection off of the surface which normally occurs when clear glass is used at this angle. What is the bug standing on?

Thanks for the kind comments all
- much appreciated.Athena- trying to squeeze the max detail out of these 5:1 shots. Bob they were all taken on the same glass slide - not sure why there is no double reflection in #3 but the shot was taken at a very shallow angle relative to the glass surface which was sitting on a black surface ( a water barrel lid). There is a very odd distortion band in the reflection at the rear end which is nothing to do with focus stacking. Brian V. |

Love the details, Brian. Their eyes don't seem to have symmetry....if I'm looking at the right thing.
What is a glass slide? |

I'm guessing he means the type you'd use with a microscope?

Thanks Tom.
The eyes are those black patches and are made up of a loose collection of simple eyes - think there is 8 per patch. Yes Athena is correct I was using a microscope slide to shoot through. Brian V. __________________
