I have a simple point and shoot Sony camera. No fancy lenses and just on auto (marco setting)...I think it does well. I'm asking Santa for a bigger better one but for now this is what I get.

I agree with Athena, these are great shots! The roses are really nice, but I especially like that last shot, with the OoF (out of focus) background. There's an almost fisheye effect which may be the lens, or may be just the shape of the flower; but it's very pleasing, in any case.

Thank you,
For the past few years that last flower has bloomed...the pedals will bend back this way giving it that fisheye look. Today they are starting to fade :-( So I never get more than a day to shoot them. They are all Macro shots. Sue |

Those look real cool. I think at first, with a DSLR with a Macro lens on Auto, you may find it a bit disappointing. Sometimes the Auto setting on some point and shoots using the macro focus setting, makes excellent pictures that rival that of some novices on a DSLR. Mainly because the P&S was "tuned" to take closeup floral shots like this and auto makes everything that much easier. You don't have to worry about DOF, exposures, etc.
However, with all that said, once you get the knack of shooting with a DSLR with a good macro lens, then you will be wondering why you didn't get one in the first place. Nice shots. |

Sony has good macro features for the type. Those are good shots.
