Macro Challenge #10 - Metal

As usual, there's a story behind my submission.

6PM on Sunday evening and the shower in the master bathroom blows a fuse

. Well, not exactly a fuse, but it starts leaking badly. No way to get a plumber at that hour, and there's no water cutoff for the shower. Prospects are grim.

We turn off the water for the entire house at the curb, and I disassemble the control. I have no idea what I'm looking at, so I snap a couple of pictures and email them to my brother-in-law, who's a general contractor. He's 3 time zones removed, but using the pictures, is able to explain what I need to do.

The next step was to print the pictures and rush over to Orchard Supply. The guy in the plumbing department was able to identify the cartridge, and sold me a puller, some plumber's grease, and a replacement. The water was back on and the shower was working by 7:30PM. It would have been a different story with these snapshots.
