An aphid sitting on it's own flying saucer
![]() Rather a very dead aphid that has been parasitised by a wasp that after finishing eating the insides of the aphid, builds a circular cocoon underneath it. You can see the exit hole of the adult wasp. brian v. ![]() __________________

Nature is both beautiful and harsh. Well spotted Brian - how do you find these things - must be tiny!

I suspect most macro adicts will agree that they have learned more about insects through photography than any class taken on the subject. This exceptional image belongs in a biology textbook and framed for the art needs of those with strong stomachs.

Thanks for the comments everyone
much appreciated.Doug- suspect you are right - I've learnt a lot more about bugs etc since I started photographing them- much more likely to find out about something when you have just seen it happening. Brian V. |
