While I love macro, I continue to have trouble with the selection of any specific, nature related subject that we are supposed to shoot now rather than pull from stock. A few of us are just coming into the start of insect season but so far this year I have not seen a dragonfly. I suspect South African dragonflies will be disappearing soon (or is it warm all year where you are?). How can we have specific subjects with a world wide membership? Leaves is pretty good now. I may be able to get the new Spring crop while others may get the colors of Fall. Both work.

OK Doug, how's this for a suggestion. Wait until the northern hemisphere fall/autumn and then run a dragonflies challenge. That way we all get to have a go.

We do have seasons here, basically dry and wet. There are lots of insects in general around right now. The two main emergences are after the September/October and Feb/March rains, which seems pretty standard for the tropics. So tropical photographers are going to be busy more or less at the same times of year world-round.

The southern part of our country has a more mediterranean climate with a definite spring, summer, autumn and winter. Of course these are 180 deg out of phase with the northern hemisphere.

These could be done from anywhere either around the house or outside. Seedlings could also include sprouts!
