Default Knife

Bored of the bad weather, so I went round the house and took this knife. Heavy vignetting, but it's a cheap lens on a 5D. I don't have a macro lens, so this was as close as I could get.

Canon 5D+Tamron 28-300, f/8, 300mm, ISO 100, handheld.

I thought I'd post a monochrome version.

I like the monochrome version Cedric. Is it my eye, or is the vignette significant less on the monochrome version?

Your eyes work fine I cheated and removed it. There was next to no processing in the colour version, I cleaned the monochrome one.

I think I prefer the monochrome version cause less of the shallow dof is noticeable on the knife

It's interesting how that works: DOF is the same in both - same image - but with resize, lack of sharpness is less noticeable in the second. I would prefer the second, if the knife wasn't kissing the border.

Yep. Perception is a heck of a thing.

I like the mono version, but the red background looks very nice in the color version. Global knives are VERY good cutlery and obviously nice subject matter.
