Welcome to the Camel!
Nice start. For the 1st and 3rd image I'd say increase your dof and focus on the refracted image within the doplet rather than the plant or the surface of the droplet.
The 2nd and 4th are a bit busy for me, but that last one is great.

Thanks for the welcome and the critique. I think a greater dof would require that I stack multiple images. I do want to get to that point, but haven't yet. That would also solve the"plant surface" focus. Thanks again!

What were your settings (I tried to look, but there is no exif attached)? From the short points on your starbursts, I'd guess that you weren't using an especially small aperture?

nice shots... to be honest, it looks as if you may have over sharpened, and the contrast and color saturation look a little over cranked as well... I am experimenting with these issues as well so I am by no means an expert.

They are very good images... maybe a little too much photoshop ImO?

Keep posting,
Jeff

Great series, well done. These might be your first post, but certainly not your first macros.

Actually, these were at F11;1/40-100 (played with a lot of diff setting) ISO100. I was zoomed in pretty far (420mm equiv - I'm using a Pany FZ-50 with Raynow 250), which is definitely part of the DOF issue...thanks

I know it looks like it, but all I did on these was Auto Levels and pretty minor sharpening. I was surprised how much it brought the color up, but kinda liked it, sokept it - thanks for the comments...

All good but like the last 2 best
As already discussed, with the flower refractions you need to probably try focus stacking to get both the flower and the drop in focus or if you can move the flower until you can get both in sharp focus.

Thanks, Brian - obviously, you set the bar on this stuff, and are partly my inspiration for this avenue. I know you regularly stack, so am assuming that would be your suggestion for me. I have very simple equipment (and kinda want to keep it that way for now)...but I could try stacking with nothing more than what I have.

Also a bit surprised you like the last ones since I think the fist 3 are more the style I remember from your posts. Thanks for the input...

Bill - one of my foibles is I often like complexity in pohotographs - not simple compositions- pics you can let your eyes wander around and keep finding new interest in . For initial impact- nice simple composition is best but to keep you interested- compexity can be good - for me at least
