I'm having a bit of difficulty deciding which crop is better. Any feedback would be appreciated

Mr. P!
Thanks for the input! No, these are just as they came from the camera with difference in Crop. Opps, I did lighten them a little. |

Hi KMA!
I think a tighter crop should do better as Mr.P mentioned. Also try to boost up the colors a little and the sharpness too. Remember when you take this kind of photos to use more DOF (depth of field-smaller aperture), I would recommend a macro lense for that (Tamron 90mm f2.8 . This way the foreground is sharp and the background is blurry.Keep up the good work! Michael |

I agree with Pickles and neuromancer.
The tight crop works better and with some sharpening, in my view the image will be a lot stronger than the wider crop version. Regards, Peter |

Why Not just move closer to the planrt if you can? fill your frame up but not over do it then you can crop a little bit more so you wont lose the sharpness?
then again depend on what kind of lens you are using to so no puns intend. |

Those shots were taken in the old spanish quarter at St. Augustine and I wish I could have gotten closer. They frown on you hanging over their fences. Also I had my Wide-angle lens my son gave me on the camera and didn't realize it till I had left that area.
I promise I will do better! Or Mr. Pickles will beat me![]() |

I'll be the oddball and say that I like them both. For me they are really not comparible because they are very different, one being a detailed shot of the bloom and the other more an environmental (love the composition with that left reaching leaf fully included in the frame). I would however recommend (especially for the first image) using a wider aperture (smaller F#) to help seperate your beautiful subject from the busy background. Next time.
