Here is a portrait shot I took yesterday to test a flash mounted diffuser.
The studio was a room where I work. The background was in interactive whiteboard and the model was reluctant. I had roof level northlight windows on camera left. Floor to ceiling windows on camera right. A fairly bright room but with too many shadows. Comments and constructive advice appreciated. __________________

Very good. You certainly eliminated the shadows. Now will you tell us: where was the 580ex and can you show is the home-made diffuser?

Thanks Blumesan, the 580ex was mounted on a ballhead attached to a flat flash bracket. I used the ballhead to raise the flash up and so that when I rotated the cam into portrait mode, I could swing the flash to the vertical position. The diffuser is more or less a copy of the Lumiquest pocket bouncer. I'll see if I can post a pic of it later.

Here's a link to where I got the info from.
http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/re...ssage=10645209 Mine is slightly modified but it seems to do what I want it to do. In fact I think it does it too well. This is made from a single 3mm thick sheet of 'Funky Foam' with a bit of card glued to the back of the top portion to make it hold its shape. __________________
