Default Westcott Spiderlite TD5

Is anyone familiar with the Westcott Spiderlite TD5s?

I'm getting close to purchasing some Alien Bees (or simiilar) and came across these. I haven't been able to find any reviews on them and I'm hoping someone here can shed some light - pun intended - on whether or not the spiderlites would be a better solution. (shooting studio and locations of both people and product)

Thanks.

You may already have your answer by now. I don't actually have experience with these lights myself, but have an associate who has them. As I understand from him, they are really nice, however, they are not too bright. You mentioned location shooting so I am not sure if they would have enough power to help you outdoors or not. I attended a seminar by Monte Zucker, famous wedding shooter, who swears by them. http://www.montezucker.com/index.html The images he produced in the seminar were outstanding.

For about the same price you can get a really nice set of Alien Bees. I have the "digi kit" http://alienbees.com/digi.html which has only 2 lights but it was only ~$600. I see a lot more comments about having the Bees than the spiders...

Good luck
Bill

Thanks for the feedback. That's good to know about the brightness of them. I checked with a local reseller and they didn't seem too enthused about the spiderlites either.
