Default Inconsistent light

While trying to do Focus Stacking I held everything the same except varying the focus area, yet some photos were lighter/darker than others. What could be the reason.

- Waited few seconds between shots to allow the head to be fully charged
- 2x500 Bowens were used, one is a medium SB the other is small

Any advice will be appreciated.

Could be a shot-by-shot variance in your system's light output, or a variance in the shutter and/or aperture accuracy.

If you shoot RAW you can adjust the exposure/F-stop until your images match, before you blend/merge the layers/separate shots.

A side question, if I may.

Forgot to turn off one of the strobes yesterday and now it's not working. Is this normal.

Thanks

Of course not. Whether your not turning it off yesterday is the cause remains to be seen. But to get it back up and working would be my primary concern. Not what caused it.
What kind of strobe is it? Brand? Model? Rating? How, and how long, have you used it? What exactly do you mean by "Forgot to turn off"? So was it in fully operational standby for 24 hours, or was it in some 'sleep mode'?
Not that I have a clue about studio strobes, but I'm sure some more background may illuminate the picture for those who do. As it were.
Oh, and is there still any warranty on that unit?

Thanks again, Jacco.

It is a Bowens 500 ws, and was not on a sleep mode. Oh and the third one went out too, so I'm left with only one now

You won't believe this....the warranty expired just yesterday! Amazing coincident

FWTW, one of the strobes started to work. Raised the output from lower than 2 (out of 6) to 3 and it started firing. This (set to low) might explain the inconsistent output also (a guess).
