I'm looking for some place to purchase a scrim, I believe it is called. Please correct me if I'm wrong...
I need to soften the sunlight in mid day... over about a 10 foot by 10 foot area. I don't see them listed anywhere and at a lost to finding something to use. I use a Adorama 48 inch fold out screen to soften the light but it is too directional for the whole body of a person and surrounding props when the person is laying down in the shot. Can anyone tell me where to go, or I mean find such an animal... ? __________________

Sheer white curtains from a discount store. Layer them until you get the effect you want. |

I have found that white RIP STOP works very well as both a scrim and a bounce card....making the frame work out of Schedule 40 3/4 inch PVC pipe......then sewing the fabric with Velcro at corners to secure....I have also found cheap sections of both silver and gold Lame' to use as both Silver reflector and or gold reflectors....I made mine 48 x 72.....the nice thing about PVC pipe...you leave the joints so you can take it apart to transport

Lastolite Limited, Manufacturer of On-Location Lighting Control Solutions.
What you're looking for is a "silk". A silk changes the character of the light by diffusing and scattering the light. A scrim doesn't change the quality of the light, it reduces the amount of light hitting the subject. A scrim is usually made of screen or other mesh fabric. The Lastolite Skylite diffusion panel linked above is 6.5 ft. x 6.5 ft and is barely big enough to cover the area you mentioned. __________________
