Default Books on Lighhting

I found some nice books online and wonder if it is worth to buy books or just experiment and ask questions here and try out various techniques without book??

Portrait Photography: Secrets of ... - Google Book Search

Page 48-49 in above book looks very well written.

I've read a lot of photography and lighting books(not that it necessarily shows) and very few things in them can't be found somewhere for free on the internet. Google whatever topic your looking for.

That being said, there's nothing like a book that is well written taking you from the beginning to the end. So buy some used books from amazon, you can usually get some pretty reasonably and see if you can learn that way. Good luck.
