Bryan - I meant no insult. I just don't want to see a fine photographer run into trouble!

I am completely incompetent when it comes to shooting people, so please keep this in mind.
![]() IMO, the highlights in her hair make the pictures. On the other hand, while the individual pictures are beautiful, the series is not so much because her facial expression is identical in all 3 pictures. This makes them boring to look at. Of course she is not a model, but you as a photographer could (should?) give her suggestions/hints/clues as to where and how to look. In my experience/opinion from looking at pictures (not taking, see first line ), in the end the facial expression does more to make or break a picture than lighting or pose.Dunno if this all makes sense. As said, I am pretty much clueless about this type of photography. |

Go to Walgreen's and tell the girl at the make-up counter you are a portrait photographer and you need a make-up brush and some powder to dust on places to lighten the reflections on a womans face.
That is the easiest way to handle this that I know of. It also gives you a time where you can work with the model one on one. This time will make the model more at ease and she will give you better photographs. You can watch a master do this in this video. Watch all 8 videos. Worth it!
