I like LucisArt but, I have to be honest and say I'm not thrilled with the way you used it here. I'd suggest making an extra layer, use LucisArt on that, then adjust opacity on the layer...after that you can use a layer mask and get rid of most of it on the face and hands leaving some on the clothing and background. I think it will look better and the rest of your family might even like it!

Lori

PS I used it to some degree on Emily's lilac portraits that I posted from this year. For example my avatar. I used it on all of it to some degree EXCEPT her skin. It makes skin look grundgy...good for some inked guys but, not for women or children (in my opinion.)
O found another program that is pretty darn near close. I added it in my plug-ins for photo shop but have not been able to use it. I can't pull it up. I am not sure I want to go that direction. I just thought it was pretty cool and wanted to try it. But you are more than welcome to send me a Lucis copy. lol!!!

Thanks, I tried. I must agree Ellbee's is much better. But for a first try it's ok.

LOL, It was the first thing I did shortly after downloading/purchasing LucisArt (Thanks, to you I may add, a post of yours). I haven't had much time to play with it, but I was thinking of doing just that, to apply it to another layer and vary the effect by changing the opacity to the layer. LOL. Great minds...

I love using Lucis, this was my first attempt at using the plugin. Sorry its a link to another thread of some photos I posted a while back. I am not at at location that I can actually upload anything. DANG firewalls.

First Lucis attempts

I do just what ellbee mentioned now. I run the action, adjust opacity, and mask out areas that need it. It really makes close ups of faces and hands look rough. Its excellent for bringing out sky detail, puffy clouds, etc.... just mask out everything else.

Those look good...I added a plu-in to my ps. I use adbobe PS 6.0. But I don't know how to pull it up for use. I un-zipped the file but still nothing. Any ideas?

You have to manually add the files to PS folder.

LucisArt (originally designed for the dental photography industry) is a cool Photoshop Plug in, but doesn't work for everything, or every color balance.

I think it works best with machinery or metal, and warm colors.

Has a tendency to make human skin look dirty.

Works best if you run some type of noise reduction filter first, or the Surface Blur filter in PS.

It is tough to duplicate without the proper filters.
