Why lcd screen? GN etc is more important.
But in case you persist, take a look at
.

What Rense said. I have two of the first generation YN-560's and they are phenomenal.

Yup for the money its pretty good, but remember... you get what you pay for.
Quality of these flashes is so-so, so make sure whom you purchase from has a good guarantee/return/replace/repair policy. Try to avoid purchasing directly from Hong Kong.

My personal take is that lighting equipment, like lenses, is that you get the best, and if that means that to get the OEM line, which is normally the highest performing and best quality, that one has to save a little longer, work a little harder... it is worth it.

Good flashes last practically forever. I have a Nikon SB-80DX that is from the 1980's that is still running as good as new. It is my workhorse when I don't want to abuse my SB-800 or SB-900's in a single flash setup and don't need TTL or other features.

No. It predates the i-TTL algorithm your three Nikon DSLRs use.

You could use the SB-80DX off-camera with a PC sync cord or some sort of radio trigger, but I think you'd be getting ahead of yourself here, especially if you don't have an on-camera flash.

You need a SB-600, -700, -800, -900, or -910.

The SB-400 will work with your D60 but it's basically a glorified pop-up flash. Works in a pinch but doesn't qualify as a "good flash", IMHO.
