Default Problem Solution: Einstien mount failure wHeavy modifiers

Hello,
First off I am NOT working for Jerry Kacey and or Kacey Enterprises. My only relationship is as a happy customer.

I love my PCB Einstien monolights. For consistancy, power range, and flash duration in combination with price point they are possibly the best lights you can buy.

BUT THE MOUNTING SOLUTION IS AWEFUL.

I have had lots of problems with large heavy modifers like the PCB giant softbox falling off and breaking the mounts and hitting clients. Over and over again.

I begged Jerry Kacey to design and Market a replacement bracket for the Einstiens that hold the softbox independently of the Monolight.

Today Jerry exceeded my wildest expectations. Nothing short of awesome. Check out this mounting bracket.

Kacey Enterprises Kacey Bracket for Einstein/Buff folding modifiers

THANK YOU JERRY!!!

The concept definitely needed improving and it looks good, but that $163 price is going to be a big deal breaker for most.

You have to pay another $163 to get them to work right?

Why not just mount the soft box directly to a Jr. stand via the 1/4" threaded stud in a swivel mount then attach the light to the soft box. Tis way the weight of the box is carried by the stand not the face of the light. Be sure to attach a safety cable to the light and the box to prevent disaster should it become detached.

I use this system to mount my 7' Photo Flex octaboxes to Elinchron 600 Monolights and without doubt Elinchron has the weakest most likely to fail mounting system in the industry and I have never dropped a light or soft box with this system and the only extra investment required is the swivel mount for the stud to screw the speed ring too

People need to understand that if you buy low cost lights, to expect low quality to show itself *somewhere* critical.

It would not surprise me if the Photogenic mount could hold the weight of two 7 foot Octas without strain.

Yeah, but Jerry, Photogenic copied the PCB lights. And they don't work any "better" for their increased cost. I haven't had a White Lightning drop a light due to mechanical failure. I have seen operator error (not setting the modifier fully) cause some slippage, that was then easily fixed.

If you think price alone defines quality, go Broncolor.

Yeah I am not sure I buy the high price = high quality idea completely either.

Quality comes from good design, correct materials, solid execution of concept.

Not sure poor design, wrong materials, and sloppy execution of concept is intrinsically cheaper.

Price is largely driven by a desire to market to a specific target demographic. This is not always true. But I think it holds up better than than "you get what you pay for" for most products.
