Default Studio Lighting

Question…

Is anyone using studio lighting manufactured Jinbei?

Can be viewed at http://www.goldenshell.com.cn

Yes, it is made in China and I have seen a number of professional photographers using this equipment in China.

HuH?

You said that you saw them using it in China. Wouldn't that be correct? It is a Chinese brand!

So, are you asking if anyone uses it in the US?

Stick with US manufactured equipment. Warranty, repair serive, etc.

Hi,
Before I got the endorsment with Elinchrom I used Jinbei very extensivly.
For the money it's the best you can buy (although I would opt for the Alien bees or the new Elinchrom Dlites).

The units are very durable but also very inconsistent (but that is a problem with almost all cheap flash units) and they take ages to recycle (well ok 2-3 seconds).

I would advise you to look for the Millenium 400Ws heads, but again I would opt for AB or Elinchrom.
Especially the analogue settings drove me nuts (you never really now what you are doing) and the recycle time was killing me.
Flashtime itself is decent arround 1/800s but for the real action stopping you need faster times like the elinchrom FX series.

Greetings,
Frank
