Difficult lighting and you have done well , but it needs to be sharper

1/20 sec and handheld I guess , just to slow for handheld

Thank you very much for the comments. The Orton-effect makes is a tad soft.

Take care,
Dwayne Oakes

Can you post The Cardinal's Quill without that Orton effect applied, Dwayne? So that we can actually see the sharpness? Because this really is too soft.

Obviously a tripod would have provided more steadiness, i.e. focus. And a bit of fill flash might have enabled a slightly higher shutter speed and some more light on the feather. BTW, why did you use ISO 200 in a dark wood/forest? I would have used ISO 400 or even 800 to gain 1 or 2 stops.
And, finally, you might have gained some clarity in PP by twiddling with the shadow/highlight settings.

Beautiful composition Dwayne, the effect really works with it. Jack and Sodeju, you might look at this link to help you understand how the Orton-effect works. http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com...-Feb-2009).pdf
